Wenzel, W. - Root Cellar/Dugout
This arched cave is built under a small stone house (or possibly a lone remaining outbuilding) on property located a few miles west of Alma. There doesn’t appear to be any other remaining structures on the property otherwise. The cave certainly seems to have been intended as a living space judging by its entrance and large window on the east wall. It was also referred to as a home by the current property owner who has deep root in the area and who’s’ family would have owned it since the original homesteader moved on. The cave walks out to the east and measures 9’(L)x9’(W)x 7’(H).
