Pritier, J.T. - Root Cellar
This arched cave was either built on the homestead of J.T. Pritier or A.J. Johnson and is located west of Keats, Ks just inside of what is now the Fort Riley Military reservation. It is located to the south of the remnants of a large stone house and in the midst of the foundations of several outbuildings with a large hand dug well. The cave itself is built under a fairly large mound covered in stone and would likely have had some kind of building above it. The inside is interesting in that it has a large window on the back wall and a very unusual concrete on its walls that produced a kind of swirly pattern. The cave opens to the North via several stairs and measures 15'(L)x10'(W)8'(H).
