Siegrist, John - Root Cellar
Mill Creek Township
This arched cellar is built into a hillside behind the remnants of a large two story stone house located about a quarter of a mile north of 20 yards a Swedish cemetery. The structure walks out to the south via a short arched antechamber into the back of the house. The house is quite striking and so is the very intricate coursing in the stone of the cellar walls. The house would have burnt down at some point during the 1950’s. This site is set over a draw from the Johnson family homestead. It measures 12’(L)x9’(W)x 6’(H).
