Dekat, J.F. - Root Cellar
This large arched cellar is built almost entirely underground behind abandoned wood frame house. It faces south but opens directly into back of house. It is quite dark inside structure for due to its proximity to the house and the canopy of trees over it. It has two large ”potato shoots” katy-corner from each on either end of the structure. It also has the remnants of a lime plaster coating that would have covered its entire surface. The Dekats were one of the original settlers of the Flush, Ks area. Another Dekat house has an even larger cellar which was used for fermenting wine. The cave measures 22'(L)14'(W)x8'(H).
