Fransisco, Father - Hermit Cave

Gouncil Grove Township

Morris County

This is not an arched cave but instead a modified cave that was located high on bluff overlooking Council Grove that was inhabited by a hermit priest for 5 months in 1863 while traveling the Sante Fe trail. This is shown in order to demonstrate what might have been deemed as an acceptable place to live. And, how the rock was used to close up the cave itself.
